Nomadic State of Mind was founded with an ethos and intention to preserve the planet.
The catalyst began with socially responsible, vegan sandals, handmade from recycled rope.
HOW IT’S MADE
Nomadic State of Mind ensures responsible manufacturing and that the workers are paid a fair, living wage. The sandals are handmade by local artisans in Nicaragua. The goal has always been to enable employment in Nicaragua. Since then, the philosophy has stayed consistent - if it is done right in the beginning, it will last a long time.

The rope is made in North Carolina from partly reclaimed polypropylene cord, which is vegan and durable. This rope is the best and most consistent option for making quality sandals.
Nomadic State of Mind produces as little waste as possible during production. These sandals are built to last, with a fully traceable supply chain that betters the planet and its people.
No scraps are left behind, all the scraps from making the different styles and colours of sandals are recycled into rope accessories like hand bags, beach bags, key rings, rugs, yoga mats, bottle holders, picnic baskets, dog leashes, rope wall art and hammocks.
Our Materials
ROPE
The rope is made in North Carolina and it is partly reclaimed polypropylene cord. We found the polypropylene to be the best and most consistent option for making quality sandals. This rope is colorfast and super durable. Basically it is one of the strongest ropes known to humans. When we look at environmental impact, one of the most important things to look at is durability. That is why we make the best rope and do not cut any corners. Durability is sustainability.
We of course look at all our footprint, especially being a sandal company. We reuse and recycle all of the rope scraps into other wearble accessories, like bags, purses, leashes, rope art; so we don't put any material into the land fill.
No Scraps Left Behind!
Soles
Our sandals with soles are made domestically using vintage sandal making equipment. We cut the Vibram soles and glue them on using low v.o.c glue. Throughout the last 10 years, we have gone through many different soling bottoms and are quite happy to the point where our research has led us.
In 2023, we have begun using some of our own designed partly recycled soles, so both are now available.
PACKAGING
We keep our packaging to a minimum and almost every element is reusable. Inside the shipping box, our sandals come in a recycled cloth bags which can be used for anything. The info and sizing tag can make a cool bookmark.
